Vikram Jaryal, who worked as a store clerk at the AM-PM gas station in Yakima City, was behind the counter when two people in masks came and stole the store on Thursday.

Police said the clerk handed over the suspects' money, but one of the suspects shot him.
Jaryal was taken to the hospital where he died later.

"The victim was able to tell the officers what happened when they arrived a few minutes later, but tragically died shortly thereafter at the hospital," the police said on NBC Right Now.

Jaryal came from the district of Hoshiarpur in Punjab and moved to the United States about a month ago, said his elder brother to PTI.

Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called the "tragic death" after being informed of the incident by the victim's brother through Twitter while seeking his help in bringing the body back.

The police are investigating the case and are now looking for two men caught in the surveillance camera that come out of the store.

"Someone knows something, somebody knows these people," said Mike Bastinelli, a Yakima police department, "and the fixed photos show a very recognizable peak that one of the suspects is wearing."

"The shooter was wearing a black sweatshirt with white spots on his back," said Mike.
